World Championships, here they come… to Southwick!
Some of the world’s top golf croquet players took to the lawns of Sussex County Croquet Club (SCCC) this weekend.
They were competing in the Golf Croquet Open Championships, and warming up for the upcoming WCF Simon Carter Golf Croquet World Championships 2019… also taking place in Southwick from July 27 to August 4th.
World Champion, South African Reg Bamford, Women’s AC World Champion, New Zealander, Jenny Clarke, and England’s youngest ever team captain, 25-year-old J-P Moberly (see photo), were all there. And both of the men will be back playing on the club’s lawns in a month’s time.
Expected to be the largest Golf Croquet World Championships yet, 80 of the world’s top players from twenty countries will be represented, including players from the USA, Australia, Egypt and several European countries.
One of the oldest and top clubs in the country, the SCCC in Victoria Road will host the main championship matches, with further play at The West Worthing Club in Titmore Way, the Royal Tunbridge Wells Croquet Club and Eastbourne’s Compton Croquet Club.
Entry to all venues will be the cost of a £5 Championships programme
