Work on the walkway railings adjoining Coast Cafe on Worthing seafront is about to begin within the next few weeks.
In the last couple of weeks repairs have been carried out to the asphalt surface of the deck and existing railings. These works should be completed shortly.
The walkway has been closed in order to make the structure more safe particularly because of the height of the railings and work to extend the height by providing an additional rail will begin shortly. Solid mesh panels will be added to the existing inside face of the railings to prevent people climbing up them as well as an anti-climb fan to prevent climbing around the outside.
The cost of the work is approximately £20k. It is hoped to reopen the walkway shortly after the work is completed.
