With temperatures set to plummet again this weekend, Adur & Worthing Councils are stepping up our efforts to support rough sleepers.
We have implemented the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol which will see our outreach teams on the streets speaking to and supporting anyone rough sleeping. Staff will direct members of the street community to shelters or, in the case of the most vulnerable, emergency accommodation.
In addition the outreach workers liaise closely with the Councils’ housing solutions team and Worthing Churches Homeless Projects to ensure those that want it are provided with temporary accommodation.
Members of the public can contact Streetlink online (www.streetlink.org.uk) if they have concerns about someone sleeping rough. Streetlink is a national charitable organisation that links the public with agencies who can do something to help.
