We Will Remember Them.

Mayor of Worthing, Cllr Hazel Thorpe, lays a wreath of poppies outside the Town Hall to commemorate the lives of seven Worthing sailors who lost their lives in the Second World War.

HMS Hood, the Royal Navy's last battlecruiser, sank within two minutes after an encounter with German ships on May 24, 1941 and began to sink at rapid speeds – so fast that within two minutes the ship had sank and only three men out of a total crew of 1,419 survived the attack.

The seven men were:

Cyril Austin Cox
Victor George Garman
Roy Frederick Knight
Percy Christopher Boylett Long
William Francis Puttick
Reginald Thomas Rose
Henry Wells
