Plans to transform a dilapidated toilet block in Shoreham Beach Green into a cafe and community space will be discussed at a community consultation event this week.
Proposed designs for Shoreham Big Beach Box will be exhibited and the development team will be on hand to discuss all aspects of the design and plans for the building throughout the afternoon and evening.
Boxpark was selected as the developer for this site in 2017 to provide a landmark seafront dining destination, cafe and community space as well as re-providing publicly accessible toilets. The lease was agreed in March.
Shoreham Big Beach Box will also provide a roof terrace, changing rooms, community space and a centre for water sports, and will work with local partners to showcase the best of the regions talent in a vibrant programme of events, workshops and talks at the site.
In order to meet the aspirations of Adur District Council and local community to target opening the new scheme in 2020 and to avoid construction occurring during the summer season.
Boxpark are intending to submit a formal planning application this summer in order to be considered by autumn
The Big Beach Box will be the latest in a series of developments which is regenerating Shoreham and the wider area as part of the Council's Shoreham Renaissance Plan.
