Our foreshore team works tirelessly to keep our beaches clean, but this piece of debris – washed up on the beach near Brooklands – really took the biscuit. 😲😲
The team first received a call from an eagle-eyed member of the public.
“They rang us to say they thought there was a coffin or Egyptian sarcophagus floating in the water. From a distance it really did look like a coffin,” says Graham Cherrett, Senior Foreshore Inspector.
“But as a tyre we think it has come off a very big piece of industrial machinery, perhaps a quarry truck.”
Our teams will be removing the tyre with one of our own – slightly more modest – trucks, all wheels intact. 👍👍
