A “poorly managed” bar which breached its legal conditions has had its licence revoked by Worthing Borough Council’s licensing committee.

Councillors were asked to review the licence of Molotov Cocktail and Vodka Bar in Chatsworth Road, Worthing, after an application was received from Sussex Police.

Police claimed the venue was not meeting conditions which undermined key licensing objectives of preventing crime and disorder and public safety.

After hearing oral and written representatives from all sides, the decision was taken by a cross-party panel of councillors in Worthing Town Hall on Monday.

Councillor Paul High, chairman of Worthing Borough Council’s Licensing Committee, said:

“This was an extremely tough decision for the committee to take. As always, we have to balance supporting the town’s night-time economy with a duty to public safety.”
