Fitness fans of all ages can now exercise in the open air thanks to a new £20,000 outdoor gym equipment on Worthing seafront. 🏋️♂️🏋️♀️🏋️♂️
Councillor Diane Guest, Worthing Borough Council’s Executive Member for the Environment, joined local ward councillors to officially open the Callisthenics fitness area at Windsor Lawns this week.
Callisthenics uses simple equipment to exercise the body and has developed as a form of street workout.
It has been well received with scores of local residents using the equipment.
Cllr Guest said: “I am so pleased that we have been able to add to the available facilities in the active beach zone and help people to get out and exercise in the fresh air ”
Local resident Lawrence Trousdale-Smith is one of those regularly using the kit.
He said: “I’ve used the equipment rain or shine since it first went up and it’s one of the best facilities I’ve seen. It’s versatile, built to a high quality and will no doubt see a lot of use as the weather gets warmer.
“People regularly stop to try a few pull-ups as they walk by and you can see how much they enjoy it. It’s definitely a great investment into the Worthing Fitness Community.”
