During Befriending Week we wanted to introduce you to Anna, who has been a Community Companion since August 2018. She currently visits Daphne in her home.
“I love coming to see Daphne because we have such a good time, we talk about anything and everything. I look forward to it. I would thoroughly recommend becoming a Community Companion to anyone who is interested in volunteering. Just a couple of hours a week can make a massive difference to someone in their time of need.”
Daphne looks forward to Anna’s visits. “She’s great! We discuss everything under the sun and have lots of cups of tea – Anna makes a great cuppa! She also goes to the shop for me if I need it. I think there should be lots of Community Companions because there are a lot of people who are on their own and, like me, only see family in the evening and at weekends, as they work full time so it’s difficult for them. It’s lovely having Anna!”
