Any appearance of colourant in the water of Brooklands lake over the next few days is no cause for alarm.
Specialist contractors will be feeding special die into the water to track and trace the source of the spill and any remaining diesel which entered the lake after an accident at the nearby industrial estate this week.
The dye is NOT harmful to wildlife or the environment as the colourant used is harmless and will naturally disperse in a few hours.
Please keep dogs away from the water because of the possible existence of traces of the diesel.
The Environment Agency has put an extra boom into an area where more diesel has been found and the clean up operation will continue over the weekend.
