Today the Mayor of Worthing welcomed the High Sheriff of West Sussex for a tour of the town.
Councillor Alex Harman invited Lady Emma Barnard on a short walking tour around the town, which include a stroll along the pier to see the new stained glass windows installed as part of an art project.
The day also included a trip to the historic Broadwater Cemetery, which is more than 150 years old.
The visit started in a very English with a cup of tea in the mayor’s parlour alongside:
Deputy Mayor- Cllr Paul Baker;
Deputy Mayoress Sandra Baker;
Cllr Tom Wye, Worthing Council’s Armed Forces Champion;
Alex Bailey – Adur & Worthing Councils Chief Executive;
and Cllr Kevin Jenkins – Deputy Leader of Worthing Borough Council.
The High Sheriff is the Queen’s legal representative in the county, although much of the role is largely ceremonial.
