This week we’re embracing the glorious Highdown Gardens; the South’s best secret Garden.
July 2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Sir Frederick Stern, the gardens founder. And in February 2018 it will be 50 years since Lady Stern carried out his wishes and left the Gardens to Worthing Borough Council for the people of Worthing to enjoy.
Here’s Mary-Anne Hedges daughter of the late John Bassindale, Stern’s last head gardener recalling a story of the daffodils at Highdown.
