Paul Davies and his son Matt are gearing up to run in the Great North Run, the world’s biggest half marathon in Newcastle on Sunday 10th September for Guild Care.

For Paul, whose mother Nancy was a resident at Haviland until she sadly passed away aged 90 earlier this year, after his mother’s diagnosis of dementia five years ago she slowly lost her ability to live independently at home on her own despite home care and family support, so they turned to Guild Care.

He said, “Guild Care is a really special organisation – in times when other great charitable organisations tackle huge medical challenges and raise funds for cures etc., Guild Care is focussed on caring for our living elderly loved ones and family in our community, the here and now. For me this is so important as more elderly people require support after losing independence.”

“We will always be grateful to all the staff at Haviland for looking after Mum so well and allowing her to enjoy the closing chapter of her long and enjoyable life.”
