Plans for a new 75-bed care home in Worthing have been approved by councillors.
Worthing Borough Council’s planning committee gave the green light to the application for the former Priory Rest Home in South Street, Tarring at meeting this week.
The application, from a founder of Caring Homes, one of the largest care and support providers in the United Kingdom with over 60 homes, is to demolish the vacant care home currently on the site.
It will then be replaced by an enlarged two and three storey building with 28 car parking bays, including 2 disabled bays, provided.
Planning permission was previously granted in 2014 to build a 64 bed care home on the plot but the permission was not implemented and the site subsequently sold.
